A: John's middle name is Charles.

Q: I know John was born on July 4, but what's his correct birth year? I've seen 1954, 1955, and 1957 listed in print.

A: John was born on July 4, 1952. Yes, 1952. John told me "I even admitted it in song." (The song "More" off of Temple Bar: "Fell out of the sky sometime in 1952.")

I asked John in November of '97 about why any published accounts of his birth year are always a few years after his real birth year. My guess was that Chrysalis was shaving a few years off The Babys' ages to make them more appealing to the teeny-bopper crowd. John said, yes, this was the case.
