These are the "miscellaneous" tracks...John Waite songs that were released, but didn't show up on any of his regular albums.

Head Above The Waves (A Babys-era song, found on Essential John Waite) - Fifteen voted
on this one (and still the news is not too good). In my memory, never has a song not been
voted a perfect 10 until this one came along. It's not as low as others in this section,
but a 9 was the best it could muster. Well, at least it got four of those. Still, 5's, 6's
and 7's see it also gain a place in the lowest of the all-time rankings. 112.5/150 Avg.
7.50 Love Is A Rose To Me (A Babys-era song, found on Essential John Waite) -The same fifteen people voted on this and the similarities are surprising. This one also fits down at the bottom of the all-time list. But it did get a 10. It also got a 4 (and everything else in between!) 112/150 Avg. 7.46 |
World In A Bottle (A Babys-era song, found on Essential John Waite) -The fifteen respondents gave this one a respectable score - but it didn't exactly set the world on fire, either. Three 10's and three 9.5's really helped it along. Others weren't so kind. Try a 5 and plenty of 6's. 122.5/150 Avg. 8.16
If Anybody Had A Heart (an 80s solo-era song from the About Last Night movie soundtrack that can also be found on Essential John Waite) - Again, fifteen voted on this. One third of the sample gave it a perfect score. A couple of 9.5's helped. But, like most of these one-off tracks, this too copped its fair share of criticism. Try on a 5 or a 6 or a 7 for size and soon you'll see your avg. suffer as a result. 126.5/150 Avg. 8.43

Deal For Life (an 80s solo-era song from the Days of Thunder movie soundtrack) - Fifteen people cast their votes. It got three perfect 10's, three 9.5's, four 9's and three 8.5's. A 7 was its lowest and this song finishes in the highest position of the cluster that we rated. A very creditable performance for what must have been a shocker of a movie to most of you, I suppose. Just what relevance did Nicole Kidman have in it anyway??134.5/150 Avg. 8.96 |
Invisible Man (from Requiem For The Americas) - Just ten out of the sample group knew and rated this very different song for John Waite. Only one perfect 10 (we can always count on you Karo!!) and a mixed bunch down to a lowly 3. This song fares quite badly on the all-time ratings list as a consequence and shares its place around such tunes as "Life At The Top" and "Dancing Off The Edge Of The World" from the Bad English's swan song. Consequently, it makes the all time worst 10 songs at the present. 71.5/100 Avg. 7.15

Money (from The Babys Anthology) - A real mongrel lot of scoring from top to bottom - look at what it got: 10, 9, 8.5, 8, 8, 8, 7, 7, 7, 6, 6, 5.5, 5, 5 and a 4. That's 15 and that totals 104/150 Avg. 6.93 |
Exxtasy (the B side from Temple Bar's "How Did I Get By Without You" single) - We had 13 voters and a fairly solid showing (with the exception of Elizabeth's 5/10!!). Five perfect 10's, 9.5 and 9 way down to THAT 5! 112.5/130 Avg. 8.65
