John, Elizabeth, and Shane
I had a such a wonderful time in Chattanooga. It was a day of just so many highlights for me. What fun it was to meet so many online fans in person and what fun it was attending a John Waite concert with people who are just as nuts about John as I am. We had a great time, and John and Shane put on an awesome show!
It was great meeting John again. This was my second time meeting him. I didn't know if he would remember me or not, so I was all prepared to shake his hand and say "Hi, John. I'm Elizabeth from Ignition...I met you at the subway party a month ago." Well, before I could get any of that out, John comes right up to me, greets me with a hug and a kiss and says "Elizabeth! So good to see you. Glad you could make it." Oh, wow. I still can't quite get over that I've even met John Waite, and the fact that he now knows who I am is quite the thrill.
Another highlight came in my hostessing the meet and greet. Thanks to the fine folks at Gold Mountain (John's management) and radio station WDEF (sponsor of the concert), Ignition members got a chance to go backstage after John's set and meet him. I took John around and introduced him to each Igniter individually. Wow--I still can't get over that I've met John, but there I was taking him around and introducing him to others?! Amazing! And it was so much fun seeing the Igniters meet him. Many of them got to meet him for the first time and it gave me so much pleasure to play a part in that.
The biggest thrill for me, however, was back at the end of John's performance. John is taking his bows and saying goodnight and I'm thinking, "Gee...wouldn't it be nice if he acknowledged Ignition to the crowd?" And, then, the next thing I know, John says right into the microphone "All right, Elizabeth!" :-O OH MY GOD!!!! John Waite acknowledged ME verbally from the stage during his concert!!! I was so thrilled, so overcome with happiness and emotion that I almost started crying. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. Yup, Chattanooga is a concert that I will remember always....
