Thanks to Maggie Breitmeier for sharing her story with Net Waite.
In 1978, a friend of mine worked for the Chrysalis record company. One day he asked me if I was interested in meeting a new band that he had to guide through several TV promotion performances. The band was The Babys. I had never heard of them, but I was always interested to meet new people. I went to Hilton Hotel, where I should meet my friend. When I entered the lobby, I saw that two guys had taken over the hotel's piano. The guests were not very amused about it, but the two guys and I enjoyed it very much. They did an "unplugged" version of "Isn't It Time."
After a while, my friend came and introduced me to the guys. Their names were Mike Corby and John Waite. After that, we all went to a club called "The Sugar Shack," which was THE club in those days. At the club, I had a little chat with John and I was very impressed by the big plans this young and ambitious musician had. I decided to keep him and his career in view. And, as you can see, I still do!
Do you have a "I met John" picture and/or story that you would like to share with Net Waite? If so, e-mail me!
