I first read about Dave Waite in Kevin Scott's No Brakes fanzine (now defunct). It was listed that John's cousin Dave was collecting used (cancelled) postage stamps for his local Cats Protection League. These stamps would help the charity. Well, I'm all for helping cats, and I'm all for recycling, so I started saving any incoming stamps. I collected them for a few months and then I sent them off to Dave. Dave sent me a lovely letter back. He explained that The Cats Protection League of Horsham sells the stamps to dealers and in 1996 received £1.00 per kilo for UK stamps and £12.00 for foreign stamps (like US stamps). Well, cool! How wonderful that a cat charity can make money from something I would have just thrown away.
I think this is a great idea and a very worthy cause, so I created this page to help Dave help the cats. Please, save your cancelled stamps. He now asks that you send them directly to the Protection League:

God bless you, Dave, for helping kitties!
