Derek Hay meets John WaiteDallas, TX
|
A day after and I'm still recovering from the concert last night! John played for approximately 30 minutes and his set included eight songs, to the best of my recollection. John seemed very relaxed on stage and was moving around a lot. He also did a good job getting the audience involved by getting them to sing along or getting everyone to stand up. The venue was about half full. It seats about 8,000 and there were about 4,000 for his show. John went on first was followed by Berlin and then the headliner, Rick Springfield.
John's set included:
1. Missing You
2. Change
3. Back On My Feet Again
4. When I see you smile
5. Act of Love
6. Isn't It Time
7. Midnight Rendezvous
8. Head First
I can't tell you how impressed I was at how at ease John was and how much fun he was having. He didn't seem nervous at all. He really got the crowd in the show and a lot of people stood up and clapped. The negatives were that the set was too short and the venue was too big. But the positives were that he really ROCKED.
The Meet & Greet was immediately after his set. There were approximately fifty people in line to meet John. While in line, I spoke to a couple from Fort Worth. They had seen both of John recent shows in Vegas. During our conversation, they mentioned they were the ones that purchased the MOS cd on eBay for $330.00.

It was great to meet John again. He was very friendly and down to earth. He stated they were very tired and had only got a couple of hours of sleep. The entire band was at the meet and greet, so you could talk to each band member. I just talked to John, tho. I had him sign a Temple Bar CD and a 8x10 picture I had taken at Sunset Station (Henderson, NV) in November, 1998. (left) Derek and his wife Christy with John |
It was a very nice night and hope to see John again soon.
